Learning Distractions

Toys

Toys from home are not allowed in school. Toys can be a distraction to the child, his/her peers and the learning process. Problems develop in the cafeteria, on the bus, and on the playground when toys are brought to school. We would kindly request that students keep all toys at home. Teachers and administrators reserve the right to collect toys, as well as, personal belongings that are interfering with the learning process. If a toy/personal belonging is collected, parent(s) will be notified and requested to pick up the item(s).

Holiday Celebrations/Birthdays

Wells Elementary School allows for recognition of birthdays, but they will not include gift exchanges or costumes. Because children are selective about birthday invitations, we ask that they go through the mail and not be distributed in school

Holiday parties will feature predominately fruits, vegetables, and cheese/crackers with one “treat" to be provided by the teacher.  We are moving in the direction of not having cupcakes or other food items for birthday celebrations.

 Electronic Devices

Students may not carry cell phones, blackberries, iPods, Ipads/Tablets or electronic games, cameras, or recording devices at WES .  Parental cell phone use during chaperoning or volunteering is prohibited.  The use of these electronic devices can be a distraction in the classroom.
