Message from Principal Burnell
Hello WES Families,
As we approach the winter season, I wanted to provide you with information regarding the possibility of remote school days for the 2024-2025 school year. Due to the structure of our school calendar, it may be necessary to utilize remote snow days at some point this year. These days may be utilized in the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances that cause us to close the school building.
What is a remote school day?
A remote learning day is a day when school is closed due to inclement weather or other unforeseen closure to the school building, but students and teachers participate in learning activities from home using technology. This allows us to continue with our curriculum while ensuring the safety of our students and staff.
How will remote school days work?
If a remote snow day is declared, teachers will provide students with specific instructions on how to access their online learning materials and complete assignments. In the event of power outages impacting either the students or teachers, students will have access to paper based materials. Teachers will be providing students with folders containing materials that could be used in the event that either you or the teacher loses power and can not access live video lessons. Your child’s teacher will be able to provide you with the most accurate and up to date schedule for your child.
If you have a technology issue during the remote day, please email tech@wocsd.org.
Sincerely,
Kyle Burnell
Principal
