As a parent you have the right to request information on the qualifications of your child’s teacher: whether he/she meets the certification requirements of the state; whether he/she is under an emergency or provisional certification status; the degree major and other degrees in the field or discipline he/she has; whether an ed tech provides services, and if so, his/her qualifications. Parents will be notified if their child is taught more than four consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified.
The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires school districts to notify parents that they have the right to request policies, procedures or information regarding student participation in LOCAL and STATE assessments. Feel free to contact Pierce Cole for this documentation.
